Hi,
This is checked yes. It has to be agile to enable AutoSave.
1. Non all.
2. For now on simply Excel, but we take very few Word. As I don't know how to reproduce the mistake, I cannot try unfortunately.
iii. What'south the checked out state? From my point of view, they just open files by double-click (Win Explorer/OneDrive) or click > Open in App (Online)
4. Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus
----------
I want to add more details. Afterwards posting here, I found out how to difficult-delete the Function Caches.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-u.s./msoffice/forum/all/upload-failed-attempting-to-access-sharepoint/dd893050-ec49-409b-9343-e523d1556a87?folio=ii
By removing the contents of
%LocalAppData%/Microsoft/Function/15.0 [or 16.0]/OfficeFileCache
and
/MruServiceCache
Then Excel is forced to redownload all information from the Cloud and it works over again... simply not for long. After some editions from the user and others, the errors come back. Yous'll agree, it should not exist the permanent solution.
These problematic files are used past up to a dozen of people at different moments of the day, sometimes at the aforementioned moment. Information technology can be that OneDrive Sync and Excel (probably as well Office products) Cache do not keep upwards with all the changes.
----------
A few more data:
I asked a colleague to open one of the file that hasn't been modified today.
The Excel opens but AutoSave is disabled (in the Options/Save/First line is checked, AutoSave should exist ON when possible as default).
On the pinnacle, the status is "Saving in Progress". But it never ends.
We effort to activate the AutoSave manually on the top left button, only null change.
After a few minutes, AutoSave disables itself and the fault shows:
"Saving not possible, in that location is a problem with saving the file".
----------
The following characteristic is also enabled on the Sharepoint Site:
SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features
Features such as InfoPath Forms Services, Visio Services, Access Services, and Excel Services Application, included in the SharePoint Server Enterprise License.
I am now disabling information technology and meet if it has an bear upon.

Hi G_711,
Thank you for spending time providing u.s.a. the detailed information.
Since you mentioned that "open up files by double-click (Win Explorer/OneDrive) or click > Open in App (Online)" at the offset, we can know that no matter which method is used, problems happened to these users. And so the problem may have cypher to practice with the OneDrive application.
Y'all too mentioned that clearing Role enshroud can temporarily make the problem go abroad, then problem may be related to the Function application.
Given this situation, y'all tin can try the following methods which tin can be used to troubleshooting client issues:
1. Brand sure your Part client is up to engagement. If not, please update to the latest version.
2. Y'all can try Part safe mode to make up one's mind if the third political party add-ins affect the role program. Yous can start Office with safe style, so open the files via File > Open to select the files from the File Explorer(OneDrive sync binder).
3. Try to fix Role client, by performing an online repair.
Additionally, about the check out status, y'all can refer to this article: Bank check out or check in files in a certificate library
All-time regards,
Jazlyn

Hi,
1. Current version 1908; 16.0.11929.20934; Semi-almanac Enterprise Aqueduct. Our company manages the updates.
Edit: I went through the computers and I found these versions: 1908.11929.20934, 1908.11929.20904 and 1908.11929.20838.
2. I will try when the next colleague permit me know nigh the fault, as I nevertheless don't know how to reproduce it.
3. I am not allowed to click on "Modify". Information technology is locked past our company policy.
4. Thanks for the info, I didn't know this feature. None of us use the Check Out state anyway.
----------
Some more than info:
I opened a file from OneDrive on my computer.
So I saw popup a colleague in. He opened through the Website in the App. He has AutoSave.
He made his stuff, as usual, and I could see them.
Immediately when he airtight the certificate, I received an error "Upload failed".
But information technology is not e'er the example... which makes it complicated.
Could it exist related to this?
Opening certificate from different applications
There are several scenarios where people tin access the aforementioned file stored on a deject. 1 user may open a document from SharePoint, another user may admission the same certificate from Microsoft Teams and a 3rd user may open up it from I Drive Explorer. In such a scenario the co-authoring session volition most likely crash the document at some point. It's piece of cake to forbid this issue; simply communicate with co-authoring participants to ensure anybody accesses the document from the same application.
https://world wide web.breadcrumbdigital.com.au/co-authoring-troubleshooting-tips/
or also this ?
- User A and User B open the file from SharePoint Online using "Edit in Browser" - No Problems.
- User A and User B open the file from SharePoint Online using "Edit in Word/Excel" - No bug ( I remember)
- User A opens online and User B Opens in local app - May have an issue.
- User A opens from OneDrive synced to SharePoint, User B opens from SharePoint - Will randomly crash.
- User A opens from SharePoint, either in browser or app, and User B opens from SharePoint in File Explorer, and then opens in local app - Random crashes.

My colleagues indeed have each their ain habits, and some adopt to use OneDrive, some prefer to employ Sharepoint Website for navigation. None of them should utilise the Excel-Online as it doesn't support macros, they use different browser and it is a lot slower with big files.

Hi G_711,
Thank you for the reply.
According to the versions, users are non using the latest version of Office applications, if possible, you could contact It admin in your visitor to update these applications to the latest one. And then permit these users check if the problem happened once again on their side.
About the examples you provided in the "Some more than info" function, we tin can see that users open the Excel files with unlike platforms. Given this situation, you could allow users open from the aforementioned platform for a short time to check if the problem happens on some users during this time.
Additionally, you lot mentioned "None of them should use the Excel-Online as information technology doesn't support macros, they utilize dissimilar browser and it is a lot slower with large files.", may I ostend that did you mean that users are using macros on these files? If yes, this is one of the limitation for co-authoring, some other limitation is using "links to another excel file(source file)" feature.
For your reference:
Co-authoring issue in Excel workbook with macros
Excel file with link to other excel files shows notification every bit "Your file wasn't uploaded because your changes can't be merged with changes made by someone else"
Equally macros and reference links are non supported in Excel Online and add the reference using Excel application, Excel application can ' t simultaneously work when using these two features. Then, y'all need to make sure that other users should not edit any content during the source change and macro to avoid the error.
All-time regards,
Jazlyn

"If possible, you lot could contact IT admin in your visitor to update these applications to the latest one."
> I'm asking
"Given this state of affairs, yous could permit users open from the same platform for a curt time to cheque if the problem happens on some users during this fourth dimension."
> I've already tried: utilize only OneDrive to admission and open up files. But the problems persist.
> What I am asking now is, for files which are heavily used, admission them simply from cyberspace, but open in the App. Office Cache was deleted earlier they switch their behavior to commencement on the same clean basis.
Not all files accept macros. Actually just 1. The others are .xlsx. All of them have problems.
But anyway, I ever program my macros to deactivate AutoSave before doing big stuff, so, at the end, reactivate AutoSave.
There are no links to another excel file.
I do actually call back this issue comes from the duration of synchronization of OneDrive and/or Excel. I of them (probably Excel) tin't go along upwardly with the changes from, between co-auth, cache and information that Sharepoint tries to update. I practise not have such problem with less used files.
Does the number of sync files in OneDrive has an impact on the duration of synchronization of the files? I sometimes take to wait 10min earlier seeing changes from one computer to another (when renaming a file for instance). Note: Changes within a file, if co-auth is enabled, appear immediately on both screens (under the condition that none of them has an error like in a higher place).

Hi G_711,
Since you mentioned that yous have already asked the IT department about updating the Function. We request you share the updates of the test result when yous take time and we will proceed to follow up.
If you are opening the files from the OneDrive synced folder, the sync mechanism rely on the OneDrive customer where the changes fabricated will be upload to cloud server with the aid of sync client but if yous are opening the aforementioned file via Open in app or from the Part application, then OneDrive sync client doesn't come into act where I presume the connection between cloud and application will be carried by the Connected Services.
As you mentioned changing the proper name of files takes 10 minutes to show in the Online, can I know whether you're making the changes in the OneDrive synced folder or opening the file from the OneDrive synced folder and changing the proper noun of the file in the application? Or opening from the Online and irresolute the name of the file in the application? It volition help us to test the behavior at our end.
Additionally, may I ask that how many colleagues co-authoring the same Excel file at the same time? The reason I asked this is that the best practice for co-authoring is less than ten users to edit at the same time.
Best regards,
Jazlyn

If you are opening the files from the OneDrive synced binder, the sync mechanism rely on the OneDrive customer where the changes made will be upload to cloud server with the help of sync client but if yous are opening the aforementioned file via Open in app or from the Part application, and then OneDrive sync client doesn't come up into deed where I presume the connection between cloud and awarding will exist carried past the Connected Services.
So I asked the people to use exclusively OneDrive synced folder to navigate and open files. > Didn't piece of work well at all. Even so errors.
Now, I am asking the people to use Sharepoint Website to navigate and open the files in the app > For at present I do not accept any problem.
Co-Auth is fifty-fifty enabled and is working without the selection "Utilize Office applications to sync Office files that I open up" checked in OneDrive settings.
As y'all mentioned changing the name of files takes x minutes to bear witness in the Online, can I know whether you're making the changes in the OneDrive synced folder or opening the file from the OneDrive synced folder and irresolute the name of the file in the application? Or opening from the Online and changing the proper name of the file in the awarding? It will help us to test the beliefs at our end.
I rename the file straight in the synced folder, I do not open the file.
Additionally, may I ask that how many colleagues co-authoring the aforementioned Excel file at the aforementioned fourth dimension? The reason I asked this is that the best practice for co-authoring is less than ten users to edit at the same fourth dimension.
I'd say 4 people max at the same fourth dimension. But 10 people using information technology through the solar day.

Hullo G_711,
Y'all mentioned that the problem just happens when users open up files from the OneDrive sync folder, at that place is no problem when opening from SharePoint, then problem may exist related to the OneDrive client. In this scenario to not delay your work, you can permit the users open up files from SharePoint site for time being.
May I confirm that whether you take the latest version of OneDrive?
You also mentioned that renaming the file direct from the OneDrive sync folder takes long time to sync, did this problem happen on other users?
At the same fourth dimension, we volition involve more resources to further investigate this issue. I will post back and let y'all know once I got any update.

Version 2020 (Build twenty.134.0705.0008) for all users, I've checked already.
You likewise mentioned that renaming the file directly from the OneDrive sync binder takes long fourth dimension to sync, did this problem happen on other users?
Yep, to all of usa. Even when OneDrive says it is upwardly to date. After updating something, OneDrive shows "Looking for changes". Sometimes information technology takes seconds, sometimes it takes up to x min. There is no internet trouble. At that place are thousands of files in our sync folders (due to our company policy, we have now to use a Sharepoint library instead of local servers to host and work on our files).
